Power Rangers!! with their new names..

In our final class, we learn about the types of power in interpersonal relationship..with this , i must say, it has been an emotional ride, having our buttons pushed quite animatedly to make this a collective project as it wasn't easy as it was our first time to make a group blog..heck, it is even our first time to write a blog for some of us like me..and now that we've all signed, sealed, and delivered, woo hoo!! lets studiee and aim for that distinction !!
now..back to what we learned in our last class..

Power Rangers
is back with a new twist! see them for yourselves!..haha.. a crazy way to look at the types of power..

Coercive power (as blue ranger)
This is the power to force someone to do something against their will. It is often physical although other threats may be used. It is the power of dictators, despots and bullies. Coercion http://img.myyearbook.com/zenhex/images/quiz1/2233/res4.jpgcan result in physical harm, although its principal goal is compliance. Demonstrations of harm are often used to illustrate what will happen if compliance is not gained.
Coercion is also the ultimate power of all governments. Although it is often seen as negative, it is also used to keep the peace. Parents coerce young children who know no better. A person holds back their friend who is about to step out in front of a car.
Other forms of power can also be used in coercive ways, such as when a reward or expertise is withheld or referent power is used to threaten social exclusion.

Reward power (as pink ranger)
One of the main reasons we work is for the money we need to conduct our lives. The
http://rovang.org/wg/pics/pinkranger.jpgre are many more forms of reward , in fact anything we find desirable can be a reward, from a million dollar yacht to a pat on the back.
Reward power is thus the ability to give other people what they want, and hence ask them to do things for you in exchange.

Rewards can also be used to punish, such as when they are withheld. The promise is essentially the same: do this and you will get that.

Legitimate power (as green ranger)
Legitimate power is that which is invested in a role. Kings, policemen and
http://rovang.org/wg/pics/greenranger.jpg managers all have legitimate power. The legitimacy may come from a higher power, often one with coercive power. Legitimate power can often thus be the acceptable face of raw power.
A common trap that people in such roles can fall into is to forget that people are obeying the position, not them. When they either fall from power or move onto other things, it can be a puzzling surprise that people who used to fawn at your feet no long do so.

http://content2.myyearbook.com/zenhex/images/quiz1/2233/res3.jpgReferent power (as red ranger)
This is the power from another person liking you or wanting to be like you. It is the power of charisma and fame and is wielded by all celebrities (by definition) as well as more local social leaders. In wanting to be like these people, we stand near them, hoping some of the charisma will rub off onto us.
Those with referent power can also use it for coercion. One of the things we fear most is social exclusion, and all it takes is a word from a social leader for us to be shunned by others in the group.

Expert power (as yellow ranger)
http://rovang.org/wg/pics/yellowranger.jpg
When I have knowledge and skill that someone else requires, then I have Expert power. This is a very common form of power and is the basis for a very large proportion of human collaboration, including most companies where the principle of specialization allows large and complex enterprises to be undertaken.
Expert power is that which is used by Trades Unions when they encourage their members to strike for better pay or working conditions. It is also the power of the specialist R&D Engineer when they threaten to leave unless they get an exorbitant pay rise or a seat by the window

Conflict In Relationships

There are a lot of conflicts happening in all types of relationships such as couple, family, peers, and many more. Conflict happens to anyone no matter how old are you. Conflict happen to fulfill demands and sometimes just because there is no equality between genders. For example, Miss Cheryl said that she cannot ride bicycle to go out of her neighbourhood area while her brother can, just because he is a guy and miss cheryl is a girl[hahaha].

Conflict happens for both good and bad reasons. Conflict is needed to strengthen one's relationship but conflict can also cause one relationship to break. When we face conflict, we tend to learn how to solve it, in other words, we gain experience to be ready for future conflicts. After conflict happens, both party will reflect and reanalyse whether they are doing the right thing. For example, mummy scolded her son for something bad he did. The son denied it and had a quarrel with his mum. After the quarrel, the son will reanalyse whether what he did was right. His mum on the other hand, will reanalyse whether she use the correct method to tell her son or will not even think about it. Conflict also help couples to reflect back whether they should be in the relationship or not.

The negative side of conflict is it always hurts. It will strain the relationship if both party do not want to give in.

Conflict Styles
Win-Lose[competition]
Only one person gets satisfaction from the conflict while other could turn up into upset. In this case, people compete for their own advantage and work toward their convinction. this style of conflict happens on majority of people, especially on a beneficial incident. Politicians are the best example of describing this style of conflict, they stand still on their convinction and competing strongly on it. it also happens in relationship, which one of the side is dominating the relation.

Lose-Win[accommodation]
When two party are in a conflict, usually one party will give in/accommodate and let another party win. For girlfriend boyfriend relationship, usually the boy will let the girl win [although the girl is the one wrong]so that the relationship will not be strained. This is bad for one's relationship as the conflict is resolved the wrong way although there is tolerance shown in one party.

Lose-Lose[Avoidance]
When both the party lose, its like there are no more benefits in arguing in the conflict. One party may use the word "whatever"[gals meaning of f u] to end the conversation. Avoidance is good and bad at the same time.

Compromise
One party will sacrifice something for another party's benefit. Both party may both compromise too for the benefits of both. Example, give by Teik Houng, if he needed to go overseas to work where his mum is alone at home, he would bring his mum to overseas too. Th worried that her mum to be alone while he needed to go to work. His mum on the other hand, would miss her hometown but would follow Th to overseas to reduce his worries.

Win-Win[collaboration]
For both party to reach win-win, tolerance are needed for both side. They would try to reach an agreement where both will like. in such a case, both parties also try to avoid taking benefits from each other while they aim for an equality.

~Muaaxx! I Love uuu..!~ ^*^

In male-female dating relationships, the first to say “I love you” were the males. One reason
was that males had “low expression control.” They feel what they think is love and do not hold
back. So, they say“I love you” . Females, it was said, have higher control over this expression--restraint, you might say..( this makes females more better in the sense that when they profess that she loves you, she really meant it ) ..Please don't kill me guys, I know some..SOME..of you really mean it when you tell your girl that you love her, so don't get mad..cuz this is just a finding, either you take it like a man or swallow it hard down the thoart..LOL..Yup so this led us to some of sociologist John Lee’s Love Styles:

John Lee conducted extensive interviews with people to discover what the word "love" meant to them. He learned, of course, that love means different things to different people. Lee concluded that humans think of love in six separate ways. He labeled these love forms with Greek nouns.
Eros Love:
Eros refers to the romantic love that has tremendous passion, physical longing, deep intensity, and intimacy. For erotic lover, they are the people who are more likely to confess or to claim that they are falling in love with just at first sight, compared to others. Marriage is the extended honeymoon, mean while sex is the ultimate aesthetic experience. however, others may perceive the erotic lover as, unrealistic, or trapped in fantasy. further more, the disadvantage of erotic lover is the inevitableness of the decay in attraction, and the danger of living in a fantasy world. In its extreme, eros can resemble naivete.

Ludas Love:
Ludas is called game-playing love. It is like the love of a knight for a princess. There are playful interactions here but little intimacy or deep intensity. ludic lovers focused more on quantity isntead quality of relationships, they expect to have as much fun as possible from relationships. ludic lovers generally view marriage as a trap(cool @@), and are the most likely of the love styles to commit infidelity. they might view children as a sign of fertility, or, if male, a confirmation of their masculinity. they regard sex as a conquest or a sport, and they engage in relationships because they see them as a challenge(wahahaha XD). skillful in sexual techniques could be the advantage of ludic lovers, but somehow, they could be seen as infedily to relationship in contrast.

Storge Love:
Storge exemplifies friendship-based love. There is strong companionship and shared values here but little physical intimacy. friends always come first, and friendship still can be endure beyond the breakup of the relationship. storgic lovers usually seek for their partners based on homogamy, which means similar social status, culture background, religion, gender, ethnics and etc.further more, they place much importance on commitment, and find their motivation to avoid committing infidelity, it is to preserve the trust between the partners. children and marriage are seen as legitimate form of their bond, whereby sex is least importance for them.

Pragma Love:
Pragma, a combination of storge and ludus love, refers to practical or logical love in which someone actively searches for a partner with certain characteristics. pragmatic lovers are rational and realistic on their expectations on a partner, and select them through listing. pragmatic lovers will avoid infidelity to avoid adverse consequences, and carefully weigh the costs and rewards of a relationship. pragmatic lovers view sex as a reward or a means of procreation, and view marriage and children as potential liabilities and assets. somehow, some people may view pragmatic lovers as undemonstrativeness and lack of emotion.

Mania Love:
Mania is a combination of eros and ludus love. It is also known as the troubled love. This love has jealousy and dependence (often called co-dependency), great intensity, some intimacy, and many psychological symptoms related to the relationship. manic lover often have a low self-esteem, whereby they feel that love is a means of rescue, or a reinforcement, they often feel that they need their partners. manic lovers will avoid committing infidelity as they fear of discovery. they view marriage as ownership, and children as either competition or a substitute for their lover. sex is a reassurance of love for them (= =). manic lovers are always anxious or insecure, as resulted they have a strong possesion on their partners.

Agape Love:
This is the love of altruism, of giving without asking anything in return, and of sacrificing oneself for one's partner. agapic lovers are usually spiritual and religious people ( as claudia does = =), they view their partners as blessings, and wish to take good care of them. agapic lovers will remain faithful to their partners to avoid causing them pain, and will often wait patiently for their partners for respond during conflicts. they believe that marriage and children are sacred trusts, and sex is a gift between two people. some people consider the Agape love as the purest form of love.

Researchers discovered that men tend to view love more in terms of the romantic, intense eros love, or the game-playing love of ludas.
Female restraint may be linked to their greater pragmatism (pragma) and the common claim that women are LIFO (“last in love, first out”), whereas men are said to be FILO (“first in love, last out”). its kinda fun getting to know all these simple facts that can help us be in a better position into being which kind of partner you want to be..watch and learn mate..*winkz*

Relationship Maintenance
All relationships require maintenance. It is to help you to get a satisfied relationship. Of course, different relationships require different types of maintenance. Maybe some will require more time and attention than others. When we have some trouble in our relationship, we need maintenance and consistent effort in order to repair it. But if things are moving along generally smoothly in your relationship, we might like to keep it that way. How we maintenance our relationship? (Sanique said 'give and take' and maybe don't be too tough). But what are the reasons for maintaining relationship??...

Attraction Theory
Attraction between people leads to friendships and romantic relationships. Relationship might be maintained or developing When there are some significant attraction from the opposite side. (Attraction doesn't means physical alone.)

Social Exchange Theory
This theory means that the relationship are formed by the use of a subjective cost-benefit analysis and the comparison of alternatives. For example, when a person perceives that the cost or reward of the relationship is lower than what he/she expected, he might choose to leave the relationship. But if the benefits that he get is as much as or more than what he wants, then the relationship will be maintain well. There is another example, a guy pick you up to college or works everyday, hope that will get into a closer relationship. Once he knows that there is no hope,he will immediately stop treating you like how he treated you before.

Emotional Attachment
It is like you and your partner build or maintain ur relationship because you 2 love each other.

Convenience
A kind of relationship that not really including love. It is more like a couple that live together for the sake of convenient to each other in future life. For example, business partner.

Children

Some couples choose to maintain their relationship rather than break up because of their children. They feel that it is the responsibility to the relationship and to protect their children.

Fear
some people find theirselves hard to accept the life of being alone or single. To avoid that, they choose to maintain their relationship so that they feel more secure.

Commitment
The most common reason of relationship maintenance is commitment.A fact(events ,action) demonstrated by behavior, and an attitude consisting of thoughts and beliefs. It is also a formal event of some kind between two people.couples made commitment to preserve their relationship.
For example,Jewel said tht comitments in her relationship is to be honest to each other.
Evonne said that she wont be hang out too much with her 'gang' that she use to hang out with.
For Long Jye,he is willing to sacrifice anything to make his partner satisfied. And with that,he'll feel happy.

Rules for Maintaining Relationship... ...

Friendship-

  • Be Yourself, 'who you are' is always changing, especially when you become part of your group of friends .Present yourself honestly and genuinely
to the people you hang around
    with.
  • Avoid Gossip Friends don't spread rumors about other friends -- even
within their group. (If you are
not sure how to talk to them about it, seek the advice of one other trusted friend, but don't let the discussion turn into a free-for-all about everything you don't like the person. (You certainly wouldn't be happy if someone did that to you)

  • Defend Your Friends At some point, somebody you're not tight with is going to question the integrity of one of your friends.Whenever you can, be respectful of the other person's question or criticism but emphasize that your friend is a good person who deserves the respect of others, even when they make mistakes.
  • protects your Friends When a friend of yours is making not-so-great decisions -- whether it's about drugs, alcohol, studying or dating,
give advice in a caring way that shows you value
your friend and respect their feelings, they're much
    more likely to pay attention.
  • Be honest
Always be honest, but never critical.
  • Be Appreciate
Always focus on what you appreciate about them, not on what you dislike.
  • Acceptance
Do not try to change your friends. Accept them as they are.
  • Keep contacts
    Maintain your
    friendships with
    periodic quality
    communication by
    email, phone, and in-person.
  • Sharing
Strengthen your friendships by sharing fun, challenging, and intellectual experiences.
  • Express
If you love a friend, have the courage to tell them. (This applies to both men and women.)

Romantic- You might already be following a rule of romance without you being aware of it. You simply cannot understand it.The point is you need to balance everything (love, romance)to achieve it.

1. Don't expect romance to just happen, you have to create it.

2. Don;t expect that your partner create all romance. You have to give it as well

"Communication is t a relationship what breathing is to maintaing life".

Characteristics of relationship
1. Personally established rules.
2. Explanatory knowledge.
3. Psychological data.

http://www.scientificblogging.com/graphics/chem%20love.jpg

Six stages Model of Relationship
Contact -----> Involvement -----> Intimacy -----> Deterioration (Repair / Dissolution)

Contact
Contact is about what you see, what you hear, what you smell, and what you read. (Physical apprearance)
What makes a guy admire a girl? The first time he meet her, he sees her and he get "electrical shock" from her. He feels that she is so attractive, charming, lovely and cute. Or may be he heard something that she said, and he agree with her. He feels that she is very smart? Mature? Or does she has any special smell that mekes him unforgettable? The perfume smell from her? The first impression is so important from a person to another person.

http://www.psych.nyu.edu/couples/couple%20picture.jpg
Involvement
After that, the guy start to make friend with the girl he admire. If the girl accept to be with friend with him. The guy may feel that he has chance to further their relationship. He wants to know more about her. He cant stop thinking about her. And he decided to ask her to be his valentine. In this stage, they (both the guy and the girl) start to involve in a relationship. The first time they go for a date. The first time he hold her hands. The first time they kissing. What is the feeling for both guy and that girl? Happy? Besides happy, what else? Do guy and girl have the same feeling when they hold hands together, when they kissing. Do they feel excited?

http://www.wellnessbeyond.com/images/HoldingHands.jpg

Intimacy
Their relationship grow and they become more and more serious in their relationship. They can feel jealous when their partner mix with opposite sex. They have commitment t each other. He brings her to meet his friends and his parents. He wants to let every know she is his girlfriend. She, too, want to let everyone know he is his boyfriend. The guy always want to protect the girl and they scare of losing each other. In this stage, their relationship grow deeper compare to the stage in Involvement.

http://sarahcady.files.wordpress.com/2007/08/mk-intimate.jpg

Deterioration
Of course, they will be arguement, disagreement, and dissactifaction in a relationship. Because you expect more from him/her. The identity is different now. Both of you are no just only a normal friend. But a aboyfriend, a girlfriend, or you may be consider him/her as your life partner? Soul mate? Fiance? Or fiancee? When arguements raise, when problems come, when temptations and trials appear, how do both of you settle it? With blaming each other? Quarrel everyday? End this relationship? OR both of you communicate, discuss, say out to prevent misunderstanding and face it together? Trust each other? Support each other? Comfort each other and have a happy ending?

http://www.bloglifetime.com/images/blogs/4-2008/whats-your-break-up-style.jpg

Which one will you choose? To have a happy ending? Or a sad ending? You can either choose to dissolve this relationship by blaming each other, quarrel everyday OR you can also choose to repair this relationship with support, comfort and walk together with him/her.
-Winnie-

Chapter 6: Relationships

[6 March 2009]

"Communication is to a relationship what breathing is to maintaining life."
Based on my understanding, the statement above means the important of communication is a relationship. Communication is like breathing. It is done on a daily basis. Most often, it goes unnoticed like the necessity of water for the survival of fish. Human, is the same. We cannot choose whether we want to breath or do not want to breath. It just goes on naturally in our lives. Besides, communication is so much so important in maintaining a life. HUMAN NEED COMMUNICATION !

http://davidtimar.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/1206131983ikx95fp.jpg

Relationship, too, need communication. So, what kind of relationship do we have? Between parents, colleagues, friends, pets, plants, etc. Trust, commitment, honesty, responsibility,.... makes a relationship works and quality. Most often, people claim that a relationship needs COMMUNICATION, COMPROMISING AND COMMITMENT. With these three, a relationship can maintain well.

So why do Communication important in a relationship? If we do not communication, we may not be able to understand each other. Whether verbal os non-verbal communication is important. Because it can bring out a message. Through communication, we know each other. What he/she needs, what he/she feels and so on.

Compromising is important that we need to put ourselves in other people's shoe. Let go ourselves. Think why he/she do this. Everything happens with a reason. E.g. when he/she angry, think why he/she angry, instead of blaming he/she. Compromise...if he/she is busy and do not have time to accompany you, just be there with he/her. Let him/her finish his/her thing first. If you keep disturbing him/her, this will only make him/her feel annoying. Dont you agree?
Compromise...put others before yourself. When people see you are so care for others, people will feel happy and next time he/she will also put you first before him/her, right?

Commitment. In a relationship, do you think it is interdependency or dependency? Why? Is it due to obligation? Or duty? Or commitment? In my opinion, if you do something based on obligation or duty, you may feel tired easily. Because you may force yourself to do something you do not like to do. But if you do something based on commitment, you are doing it with your sincere heart. You do not force ypurself and you do not expect something back to you. With this, your relationship can maintain in life.

So, here are 2 questions for you to think.

1. How do you describe your relationship? E.g, do your relationship with your parents is like friends? Or you just treat your parents as authority and guardian? Or between you and your parents is hostile where you cannot communicate with your parents?
2. Social norm. What kind of your relationship is? Is it both of you must go for a date? Must watch movie in cinema? Or what else? Lets share with us!!! :)

[The mirror have 2 faces] is a nice movie that Ms Cheryl has suggested to us. Lets enjoy!

significance of cultural

The Significance of colour in culture

Colors evoke strong physiological and emotional responses both positive and negative.Different colour have different meaning to different people according to their own culture.
Chinese culture.
Red colour means good fortune and joy. That is why chinese gives red
packet to their family ,relatives and also friends during chinese new
year.It is to wish people good luck in coming years.Red also represent
fire in chinese culture. It is one of the five elements( fire, wood ,water
, metal, earth) that connected to chinese
beliefs named 'feng-shui'.they believe that

these five elements create everything that
exist in nature and red elements which named as fire is an elements that can chase out all evil.
Besides, golden and yellow are also significance colour of chinese. These two colours are the traditional colour that used in imperial services and it shows royalty, wealth and also hapiness.chinese also associate these two colour with the five elements. (golden-metal,yellow-earth).

Indian cultures

In India, brides traditionally wear red gowns and once married
their foreheads are adorned with a red dot or tikka. It means
commitment. And i think that the significant cultures of
indian cultures is red. But in india, red colour represents
something quite different with chinese cultural. For them,
red means purity. Soldiers wore red turbans in battle,
women wore red clothes and reddened their hands and
hair during marriage or fertility festivals. And Because of the
wedding represents the
beginning of a union of
two individuals and their family , the color red also symbolizes fertility and prosperity.
Besides red, there is
another colour that
represents their cultures. It is green. The color
green represents a new beginning. This is also the colour that they used to honour islam.

Other cultures
Besides these 2 cultures, there are also many significance of colour in others cultures . And i hav list a few of that..hope you all enjoy reading this..^^

Interpersonal theory + research>>> SOCIAL CLOCK

SOCIAL CLOCK

FEEL OUT OF STEP..? WHY,..?.
IT IS IMPORTANT???

Social clock is a personal sense of when things should be done in one's life and when one is ahead of or behind the schedule dictated by ages norms. Thats means what you suppose to do when you reach certain age , certain time determine by your culture..
For example,in a small indian community,as soon as they finish form5, they will get marry. Due to the reason that more than half of the community married at that particular age and you are not, they might think that u cant get a boyfriend or feel that u r wierd n pity u like that(julia said got girlfriend wat)@@
There is another example , when u find out that most of your friends are managers, n you are still studying, your cuturals might also expect that you suppose to be at this level also. people will start to ask how come you doing your degree or master so late... ... ...and might think that you fail your result. but mayb the reason that i'm still studying is just that i don't want to work or step out to the wide society that early.
With this, we can see that cultures tell us what to do next and they expect you to do certain things by a certain age.And of course it is depending on what culture you are from.
So,is it important?? it is depends on how u think of it.Sometimes if we don't follow the guideline, people will give you preseure as well as look down on you. But, on the other hand,
it can be also an advantage that people have aim to keep going on their works or whatever they are doing.

My Perception On The Movie-Starwars Episode 3:Revenge Of The Sith

In this movie, I learn a lot of knowledge of interpersonal communication. First, the Lord of Sith used the identity management in his communication. He used this strategy to influence how others view him. For example, he became chancellor in that society but he is also the head of the dark side. This means that he got multiple indentities in that society. Besides, he also use this strategy with deliberate to get the trustworthy from Anakin.

Second, Anakin is a low self-esteem person because he always worry about the life of his wife. For example, he always think that his wife, Padme, will be died due to the fate. Because of that, he always feel stressful in his life. So, he is easily influence by the chancellor because of his negative thoughts.

Third, self-fulfiling prophecy also appear in Anakin's mind. He trust the expectation, the death of his wife, is true. Because of the expectation, his future behavior totally change all which is from a good person change to be a bad person. This is because he behaving in accordance with that expectation. For example, he want to save his wife from death, so he act according to the orders from the chancellor.

http://images.wikia.com/starwars/images/a/a6/QuiGon-death.jpg

Fourth, realistic expectation also occurs in the mind of Anakin. Because of too much of expectations, he start to change his self-concept which is from a kind person to a realistic person. For example, he killed all the person including children from Jedi to achieve his lust. He think that he can ruling the Galaxy and make thing he want to be. This can prove that realistic bring his anger and lust of power to become like that. Last, power of communication can affect a person view. For example, the chancellor effectively used the power of communication to control the acts of Anakin. He used that strategy to confuse the mind of Anakin and make Anakin totally trust on him. In addition, he asked Anakin go for war to bring peace to the Republic. On the other hand, the war is just a tool for him to get more power to ruling the whole Galaxy. Since, this prove that he is smart in using the power of communication to make Anakin become his apprentice.

In my conclusion, this movie is very interesting for me because it make me more understand the power of communication can drive a person to be good or to be bad.

STAR WARS

In the star wars episode III, the most drastic changes happens to the character of Anakin Skywalker. Anakin in the beginning of the story is kind, however, in the end of the story, he has turn into the dark side. This changes is all because of power and he even hurt his beloved. Based on this drastic changes, I can say that, my perception towards Anakin in the beginning of the story is wrong because I think that he is good, but he is not.

Besides that, this movie also has focus on masculine culture. This is due to the wars that involves many man and the committee of The Jedi Council also are all dominated by man. So, this shows that masculine culture is there. Based on this war also, we can say that there is a high power distance occur in this movie. The Chancellor is the one that has the power and caused all the wars. Others who has less power are very hard to stop it. Anakin beloved has once asked Anakin to tell Chancellor to stop the wars. So this shows that the chancellor is the one with high power.

Next, there is also a complimentary relationship. This happens between Anakin and his beloved, in which, Anakin loves wars in order to get the power, however, his beloved don’t like it. The contrast traits in them shows that they have a complimentary relationship.

Self-fulfilling prophecy

Self-fulfilling prophecy is a statement that influence/ change your actions based on your perception toward yourself or how people perceive you and therefore it tend to comes true.

For example, a person stating "I'm probably going to fail my Public Speaking", this attitude or thinking will influence him/ her and in the end he/ she really fail in this paper.

If a person thinks we are clever or stupid or whatever, they will treat us that way. I we are treated as if we are clever, stupid or whatever, we will act, and even become this way.

Implicit personality theory

Implicit personality theory refers to general expectations that we build about a person after we know about their traits.

For example, we believe that a happy person is also friendly; or quiet person are shy.

Self Fulfilling Prophecy
Sorry to have post this late.. haha.. let's define self fulfilling prophecy; for example, if a person thinks we are clever they will treat us as if we are clever. If we are treated as if we are clever, we will act and even become a clever person. Thus the person had thier prophecy about us fulfilled.

We can take Anakin Skywalker as another example for self fulfilling prophecy. He is not treated to become the bad villian Darth Vader but due to his fear of losing his loved one, his own action has turn him into Darth Vader. He has the vision of losing his wife Padme, Afraid of losing her and due to wanting to save her so much, he joined the dark side with no doubt. Thus he had the self fulfilling prophecy as her wife die due to sadness of Anakin turning into a bad person.

Using it
To make a person act in certain way all you have to do is believe this when you interact with them. If you find it hard to make this jump, persuade others that the target person has desired attributes.

Defending
When people treat you as if u had certain attributes, decide whether this desirable or not. Question thier behavior if you do not wish to be pushed in this direction.

Please use self fulfilling prophecy for the sake of good. You may hurt others and if people tried to fulfill you as a negative person, always be positive while convincing others you are not.

Implicit Personality Theory
-general expectations that we build about a person after we know something of thier central traits. We may assume that intelligent people are arrogant, quiet people are timid and aggressive people are stupid.

Using it
Understand that the traits are implicitly linked with other traits which you want to be associated. Then display the traits and by inference, you will be assumed to have the other traits. For example, a person who is polite and attentive may well be assumed to be trustworthy also.

Don't assume a person too soon. Having one trait doesn't mean they do not have another that is linked.
